Melissa Figueroa is an attorney with Carney Law, P.C. in Norfolk. Originally from California, Melissa moved to Norfolk in May, 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Development Studies, with a minor in Public Policy, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2013. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2019.
During law school, Melissa clerked at the Lancaster County Public Defender’s Office. As a law student she successfully argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court, resulting in a reversal of the judgment and remand for a new trial for her client. As an attorney, Melissa handles a variety of criminal and civil cases for her clients. She is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association and theNebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. She is admitted to practice in California and Nebraska.
Melissa is a first-generation college graduate, and is able to communicate conversationally with Spanish speaking clients. She remains active in the community and enjoys spending her free time with her partner, Alexander and two dogs.
